Three in One

2024.09.04.

We met Mr Martin Vanco, Head of Philately of the Slovak Post in Luxembourg in September 2023 on the Philatelic Forum organized by PostEurope. Martin fell in love with my pictures at once and invited to organize an exhibition of my pictures in Banska Bystrica where the head office of the Slovak Post and also the Post Museum are situated.

After a series of discussions, we defined September 4, 2024 to be the date of the opening of the exhibition but the venue was suddenly changed as the Mayor’s Office suggested to organize it in the Robotnicky Dom where the wanted to create a new exhibition space for the town and the Post.

I made a dedicated picture for this exhibition as usual. Banska Bystrica used to be a mining town earlier but it did not stay alone. It formed a mining region together with Banska Stiavnica and Kremnica. By this reason the pictures feature the crest of this three towns painted on mining waggons packed by ore of gold, silver and copper which were characteristic for these towns.

The exhibition was opened by Martin Vanco but it was attended also by Vladislav Kupka, CEO of the Slovak Post and Pavol Lazar, President of the Slovak Philatelic Association. The local municipality was represented by Monika Pastuchova, Head of the Mayor’s Secretariat while Hungary was represented by dr. Jozsef Barkanyi, Consul of the country in Banska Bystrica and also by Pal Venyercsan, director of the Liszt Institute in Bratislava.

From among the Slovakian televisions, it was TA3 which covered the event. Their reportage to be found on the link is in Slovakian but presents the pictures very well:
